Astrid Hedin
Senior Lecturer

Astrid Hedin's current research is on the role of the United Nations' specialised agencies for global welfare state policy trends during the Cold War. I summarise this research agenda in a blog post at the Geneva Global Governance Centre:

How the Cold war helped spur West European welfare state reform

Hedin has also researched how the pan-european leftist trend after 1968 impacted on the Swedish model – and on how it was perceived.

Furthermore, she has written on the public administration of travel controls under communist regimes and how these were used to direct communications with the West.
