Astrid Hedin
Senior Lecturer

Astrid Hedin is a political scientist focused on organization theory, international organization, political theory, and contemporary transnational European history.

Hedin's current research is on the Swedish Model in a pan-European context, as 'entangled history'. Hedin has also researched the public administration of travel controls under communist regimes, the so called travel cadre system. Before that, her Ph.D. dissertation was on organization theory, developing the case of how the East German communist party was reformed after 1989.

Since summer 2011, Astrid Hedin is a senior lecturer at the department of Global Political Studies, Malmö University, where she is the subject coordinator for political science, and during autumn semester 2015, acting research coordinator.

Current courses: Globalization and the Welfare State, International Organization, Swedish Politics and Public Administration, The Craftsmanship of Science, Qualitative Methods, Methods and IR, IR Tendencies and Problems
Hedin has also developed and taught Master level courses on Comparative European Politics and on Non-Democratic Regimes at Uppsala University, and an undergraduate course on Qualitative Political Science Methodology at Lund University.
