The research field is expanding and characterized by closeness to professional practice related to representatives of various professions in the preschool, primary education and other rooms of learning for young children. As part of this Vallberg Roth with field experience has been a leader and cooperated with researchers in a variety of scientific projects, both nationally and internationally, with emphasis on Nordic network and co-productions. She has also contributed to the research field of Childhood, Learning and Didactics developed at Malmö University, which successfully resulted in three National Research Schools, in cooperation with five other universities, where Malmö University is the host university. Vallberg Roth's research interest was early focused on curriculum issues in a historic and didactic sense. She has studied the curriculum for young children in Sweden from the mid- 19th century to the present. Her research is highlighted in a societal perspective and discussed from a childhood in transition. In recent years, her studies are focused on teaching and intensified documentation and assessment practice of young children's learning and education. She is the scientific leader of a research project on Multi-voiced teaching and co-assessment in Swedish preschools? The project aims to develop our knowledge of teaching and co-assessment in relation to policy documents, the scientific basis, and the experience of approximately 100 preschools and/or preschool units located in ten municipalities in Sweden. The project involves a total of approximately 3400 participants in year 2016. In the multidisciplinary project Multi-contextual childhood – school, family and leisure time in transition, she has developed studies on assessment and systematic documentation at a micro level. The research highlights how the documentation and assessment of children varies depending on where the children grow up and attend preschool. She has recently working on a research project at the Center for Profession Studies (CPS) dealing with Preschool teachers in intensified documentation and assessment practice – shown as transformative assessment, assessments as boundary objects in network between micro-macro levels. She has also recently finished an expert report regarding a Nordic Comparative Analysis of Guidelines for Quality and Content in Early Childhood Education. Further, she has worked with an expert mission by the International Center Early Childhood Education and Care (ICEC) at the German Youth Institute (in Munich), regarding Quality, assessment and documentation in relation to the Swedish preschool and an expert mission by the Swedish Research Council regarding meta-analysis of preschool research, relevant to the new School Research Institute which will be established 2015. Furthermore,Vallberg Roth has held management and administrative tasks such as research coordinator, and various expert assignments. Vallberg Roth's teaching skills are also well documented with course design and supervision responsibilities from undergraduate to graduate levels. She is active in various networks and conferences both nationally and internationally and has contributed to the interaction with the community in the form of seminars, lectures and articles in both newspapers and specialized publications.
