I am professor in Educational sciences and associate professor in Ethnology. My research interest lies in how power is exercised through norms and I try to understand education, science and modern biotechnologies from a cultural and norm critical perspective. In the field of educational sciences I study and problematise norms for "desirable children", that will say what attributes one needs to fit into school cultures. I am especially interested i issues about race and social class. I am working with these issues in the project "The eco-certified child" (2012-2016). Another research interest is how school is changed and organised in and through a neoliberal culture, in which the state work is distributed on a number of actors. In this I also investigate school as embedded in a measurement culture. As well, I have research interests in student's identity construction in school science. I have also worked with several projects about cultural perspectives on biotechnology and how people in different contexts (not) talk about different issues, like cloning, gene technology, embryonic stem cell research and experimentation with transgenic animals and the consequences for ethical evaluation and the doing of policy.
