Reza Malekian

Having several years’ experience in teaching and research in both the university and the industry sectors, he has maintained an active research programme and provided supervision and mentorship to several doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows, under industry and government funding.

His research focuses on the IoT, connectivity and advanced sensor networks. He is registered as a chartered engineer (CEng) with the Engineering Council of the UK, a senior member of the IEEE, a senior member of the ACM, a fellow of the British Computer Society.

He publishes regularly in top high-impact journals, eg IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, IEEE Sensors Journal, etc, and presents at top conferences in the field, eg IEEE GLOBECOM. He has led several international projects and is an associate editor of IEEE Internet of Things Journal (2016-2019), IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems (since January 2018) and IET Networks (since January 2016).

He has been appointed as assessment committee member for PhD thesis from Aarhus University, University of Cape Town and University of Pretoria and chaired several doctoral thesis defenses and defense committee at the University of Pretoria.
